Indianapolis Marriott East Unveils $25 Million Transformation
The Indianapolis Marriott East is entering a new chapter with the unveiling of a $25 million renovation, bringing modernized guest rooms, expanded event space, and a redesigned courtyard to Indianapolis’ far eastside. Led by Area General Manager Timothy Wagner, the transformation honors the hotel’s 50-year legacy while positioning it to welcome major events like the NCAA Final Four. City-County Councilor Keith Graves says the investment is more than cosmetic—it’s a catalyst for broader economic revitalization across the east side.
A new era has arrived on the far eastside of Indianapolis as the Indianapolis Marriott East officially unveils a stunning $25 million renovation, signaling renewed investment and momentum in the community.
Led by Area General Manager Timothy Wagner, the transformation includes upgrades to all 315 guest rooms, expansive public spaces, and more than 81,000 square feet of meeting and event space. “It’s part of growth and revitalization,” Wagner said. “We’ve been a pillar in this community for over 50 years, so we need to continue to invest in that legacy.”
Guests returning to the Marriott East will immediately notice a modernized experience. From enhanced in-room technology and connectivity to refreshed design elements, the hotel has been brought fully into today’s hospitality standards. “We had to bring it back into the 2026 era,” Wagner noted, emphasizing upgrades that include streamlined charging stations, updated décor, and a more welcoming atmosphere.
Among the most anticipated features is the redesigned courtyard, which will serve as a peaceful retreat for guests. Plans also include a tribute space honoring the armed forces, complete with a revitalized fountain and symbolic elements celebrating service members. “It’ll be a wonderful getaway…a place to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet,” Wagner said.

The renovation comes at a strategic time, as Indianapolis prepares to host major events such as the NCAA Final Four. Wagner says the hotel is ready. “We’re excited to welcome guests back to a renovated product that should meet every need they have,” he said.
City-County Councilor Keith Graves sees the project as a catalyst for broader economic impact. “It’s going to continue the momentum of revitalizing and rebuilding the east side,” Graves said. “There’s going to be a ripple effect…bringing conventions that will feed into our small businesses.”
Beyond the physical upgrades, Wagner emphasized the importance of the investment for both guests and employees. “To have a brand-new product that our team can be proud of—that energy spreads throughout the community,” he said.
With its refreshed look and renewed purpose, the Indianapolis Marriott East stands ready to once again serve as a cornerstone destination on the city’s far eastside.
